About Me

Hi, my name is Maheshwari. Thanks for joining my little corner on the internet. I started blogging as a creative outlet and it's quickly turned into a passion. I am married to my best friend and together, we are raising our little tribe of a toddler and two sets of twins.

Heyyy y’all! My name is Maheshwari and I’m a c Heyyy y’all! My name is Maheshwari and I’m a certified English Teacher + SAHM mom of 5. I’d love to see you over at @chattingwithchai to talk more about different ways to support your kids as they learn through play in elementary school.
_____ By popular demand, I’ve collated a list of books that you can read from newborn till preschool. I started with Kinder chapter books and got SO many requests for storybooks and picture books that started getting this list together. Please know that there are hundreds of great books out there; these just happen to be some of the titles we’ve read and loved. I know there are a ton of books that I missed but Instagram only allows you to upload ten frames in-feed! Let me know in the comments what are some of your kids’ or your favorite story and picture books!

_____ I read a post about how reading books was not enough to change. And while I agree, I do think books are a good start. If you’re not sure how to teach your kids or even what to teach your kids about racism and the civil rights movement of the 1950s, I think this is a good start. MLK Day is just around the corner and I think it’s so apropros to learn about how we, as a country, got to this point. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr was a great orator. He was a powerful civil rights activist that marched the capital grounds PEACEFULLY. Organizing thousands to come without the power of social media, without text messages or hashtags. He lead people to change laws and make a real difference in the way the country works. THAT is the kind of change and peace we need at the Capital. Not the coup that happened yesterday. Make sure to check out the post and all the fun activities you can do for MLK Day with your kids!

_____ I once had a friend that was married before me. I was single and didn’t have any love on the horizon. I asked her to join me and some girls for Sunday boozy brunch; she declined, saying that she has a family meeting Sunday mornings with her husband and puppy. I always thought it was weird, like what the hell do you need to have a meeting for? And why do you want your dog there? Fast forward ten years, here I am having a Sunday meeting with my husband, kids, and dog (and cat but she’s moody so ehhhh). Is family meetings a thing in your house? I’ve just shared an entire outline with agenda ideas and a free printout that we use in all of our meetings. We actually use it on our iPads so make sure to check my stories to see what that looks like! I’ve actually got a highlight shared from our previous meetings from the earlier years where I share the fun coloring pages our kids have done!

We’re ending the year with some fun book suggestions for 2021. Last week, I outlined some books for K-2nd grade; naturally, this week, I’m sharing some fun chapter books for 3-6th. Included are classics, variety of topics, and of course, diverse characters and writers. I’ve also started assembling my own 2021 reading list and may share that in my stories next year. Until then, stay safe and have fun playing 😀

Like, I WAS READY. I got our crafts ready, a list of elementary Christmas books out, holiday sensory boxes prepped, and my worksheets and coloring pages printed. Honestly, I don’t know how it happened and came together, but here we are, just sitting on the couch watching Disney movies and not doing anything! HAAAAAA My boys are at that age where they are really into cutting, pasting, and tracing. Like, there is a real obsession with staying on the line and purple glue. So much so that now my diaper bag is cut and sticky. But, I digress. Tracing is one of those things that are quintessential for children. Honestly, I’m not really sure how to teach the actual act of writing without at least reviewing tracing. Not only does tracing worksheets help with practicing fine motor skills but it strengthens dexterity, which really helps with Dysgraphia. Oh, and by the way, these winter themed worksheets that focus on tracing are ABSOLUTELY FREE. 🥰
